UploadVR Summer Showcase Spotlights Mixed Reality Games on June 26th

We’ve got dozens of videos on hand for the UploadVR Summer Showcase featuring impressive new work from developers exploring funny, weird, and wildly interesting new ideas for the headset.

We can confirm that Creature is planning to come out with several joint projects under Doug North Cook’s new label. We’re taking a look at Starship Home’s mixed reality gameplay, and Cubism developer Thomas Van Bouwel is offering a glimpse of mixed reality with Laser Dance, captured directly on a Quest 3 mounted on a stabilized visa.

Creature unites industry veterans with new VR game studio

Creature is a new studio and label bringing together VR veterans. More information:

There’s even more from Creature and we’re planning to have an incredible game from them near the start of our show, which starts at 10am Pacific on June 26th. North Cook carefully chose its development partners for Creature, and we believe that at least one of their games will open minds to the idea that gaming in VR, or mixed reality, means something a little different than in traditional gaming systems.

Walkabout Mini Golf also sent us one of the shortest videos in the Showcase that will also have the biggest impact. Along the Walkabout courses, we’ve explored Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, visited Myst Island with Rand Miller, chatted with twins on a plane docked at the Eiffel Tower, taken a trip to Meow Wolf’s enchanting spaces, and even swam with whales in Atlantis. 2025 holds Viva Last Elvis and whatever else Mighty Coconut is capable of lining up for mini golf. However, this summer, they’re working with famed animation studio Aardman to take little players inside Wallace & Gromit’s tool-filled home, and the first look is coming to our Showcase.

Viva Las Elvis – Walkabout Mini Golf is planning an Elvis Presley-inspired Vegas course for 2025.

UploadVR Game of the Year 2022 What The Bat is back too, with more of their silly space shenanigans, and there’s a variety of interesting mixed reality ideas in store from others as well. We have a lot more planned for mixed reality and VR gaming, and you can check back with UploadVR.com for articles on everything mentioned above when their video premieres at the show.

We encourage developers involved in the event to inform others about their work under the shared embargo time from 10 a.m. Pacific on June 26h. Thank you to Smash Drums for taking the lead in sponsoring the UploadVR Summer Showcase, and to all of our members and customers for directly supporting the work of UploadVR! Our Marketing Director Beck Gibson tells me there are still a few sponsorship positions open for live discussion before the event and you can email beck@uploadvr.com to get in touch.

On UploadVR’s YouTube channel, where you can watch the VR Download and our revamped VR Gamescast, our live preview will be broadcast from UploadVR Studios in the hours leading up to the summer show. We’ll be able to answer any headset and gaming questions in the same format as our weekly shows, while showing videos we couldn’t fit into the main event.

While submissions are closed for the UploadVR 2024 Summer Showcase and we have to use the videos we have in preparation for the event, we always encourage developers to email tips@uploadvr.com if you have interesting games, trailers or demos that we can to watch for our ongoing coverage or an upcoming UploadVR show.
